Corpus Files is operated by W Consulting, LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company. This policy explains how corpusfiles.com handles information on this website.

Information we collect

When you create a contributor account, we store your email address, authentication identifiers, and any name you provide. When you submit a correction, source suggestion, or photograph, we store the subject or page, your explanation, citations and links, relationship disclosures, credit preference, confirmations, moderation status, and any file you upload.

An uploaded photograph may contain visible personal information and embedded technical metadata such as device, date, and precise location. Private originals are not public. Before any later public use, a separate editorial process must review privacy, rights, captioning, and unnecessary metadata.

We also receive ordinary technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, including IP address, browser type, requested page, time, session information, and security logs. Email messages sent to contact@corpusfiles.com remain in the mailbox so we can respond and keep necessary correction or rights records.

If you begin or complete a one-time reader-support payment, Stripe may collect your name, email address, billing information, payment-method information, payment amount, transaction date, device and network information, cookies, and fraud-prevention information. Stripe may collect information entered in checkout even if you do not complete the payment.

W Consulting, LLC may receive contact and billing information, the payment amount and status, Stripe transaction identifiers, and limited payment-method details such as card brand and last four digits. Full payment-card numbers are transmitted directly to Stripe and do not pass through or get stored on Corpus Files servers.

How we use information

• To authenticate contributors and privately receive submissions.
• To verify sources, factual claims, rights, consent, and relevant relationships.
• To contact a contributor for clarification or communicate a queue decision.
• To edit, credit, correct, remove, or separately publish approved material.
• To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site.
• To process and confirm reader-support payments, send receipts, issue refunds, maintain financial records, resolve disputes, and prevent payment fraud.
• To respond to legal, privacy, safety, and copyright requests.

Private review and disclosure

Contributions remain private unless Corpus Files makes a separate publishing decision. They are not posted automatically, and other visitors cannot browse the queue. Editorial review and publishing decisions are made in-house.

Hosting, authentication, database, storage, email, payment, and security providers may process information for us under their service terms. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect safety, investigate abuse, or establish or defend legal rights. We do not sell contribution or payment information or use it for third-party advertising.

Retention

• Inactive, unpublished submissions are normally retained for no more than 24 months.
• Declined or withdrawn unpublished photographs and substantive content are normally deleted within 90 days.
• Accepted or published content, consent, licence, correction, and permission records may be kept while the material is used and for up to seven years afterward.
• Routine technical and security logs are normally retained for no more than 90 days unless needed for an incident or legal matter.
• Payment, refund, dispute, and accounting records are retained as long as reasonably needed to complete transactions, maintain required tax and financial records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
• Deleted material may remain in restricted backups until overwritten in the ordinary course.

Limited information may be retained longer when required by law, reasonably needed for a legal claim, necessary to prevent repeated abuse, or needed to record a request not to contact you.

Cookies

The site uses cookies or similar storage needed for sign-in, session continuity, preferences, security, and basic operation. Corpus Files does not use advertising cookies. Stripe Checkout may use cookies or similar technologies for payment processing, security, fraud prevention, and other purposes described in Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Reader-support payments

One-time reader-support payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles payment and transaction information under its Privacy Policy. Payment API requests are relayed through Lovable's connected-service gateway, which may process payment-session data as a technical service provider. Corpus Files does not offer recurring reader-support payments. Where Adaptive Pricing applies, Stripe may present and charge the amount in your local currency. Corpus Files receives the settlement in US dollars.

Your choices

You may ask to access, correct, delete, or withdraw an unpublished submission, or object to future online use of a published contribution, by emailing contact@corpusfiles.com. Some information may be retained for rights, correction, security, backup, or legal purposes. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity or authority.

Age

The contribution form is for people age 18 or older. We do not knowingly solicit contributions from children. Contact us if you believe a child submitted personal information.

We will revise this notice when our practices materially change. Privacy and deletion requests go to contact@corpusfiles.com.
